

The Irrometer Soil Tensiometer consists of a pressure gauge, acrylic tube, and ceramic probe. Once the acrylic tube is filled with water, the ceramic probe becomes saturated, preventing outside air from entering. When there is a pressure difference between the soil water potential and the tensiometer, water moves from the tensiometer into the soil until equilibrium is reached. At this point, the pressure gauge displays the measured soil water potential.
