Overview
This instrument is designed and made as per GB/T3536-2008 Petroleum Products – Determination of Flash and Fire Points – Cleveland open cup method and ASTM D 92 Standard Test Method for Flash and Fire Points by Cleveland Open Cup Tester. It is applicable to all petroleum products with flash points above 79 ℃ and below 400 ℃ except fuel oils.
The AELAB SYD-3536D integrates an 8-inch IPS high-definition capacitive screen, a 32-bit ARM processor, and a high-precision AD chip to display test curves in real time. It supports automatic atmospheric pressure compensation and automatic correction of flash point values, ensuring accurate and repeatable petroleum flash point analysis.
⚙️ Design & Construction
The AELAB SYD-3536D features a durable heating chamber, precision-machined Cleveland open cup assembly, and an electronically actuated igniter with a calibrated 0.7–0.8 mm igniter diameter. The integrated 8-inch IPS touch display provides clear visualisation of temperature rise, ignition events, and live operating parameters. The automatic fire extinguishing mechanism returns to its original position after activation, supporting safe and controlled testing.
🔬 Working Principle / Testing Method
The SYD-3536D performs Cleveland open cup flash point determination by uniformly heating the petroleum sample at a controlled rate of 14–17 °C/min during initial heating and 5–6 °C/min as it approaches the preset flash point. An electric igniter automatically enters the test area at programmed intervals to detect vapour ignition. The system compensates for atmospheric pressure, measures the flash event, records temperature at 0.1 °C accuracy, and applies automatic fire extinguishing when necessary.
