Overview
The AELAB SYD-3536 Cleveland Open Cup Flash Point Tester is designed and manufactured in accordance with GB/T3536-2008 Petroleum Products – Determination of Flash and Fire Points – Cleveland Open Cup Method and ASTM D92 Standard Test Method for Flash and Fire Points by Cleveland Open Cup Tester. It is applicable to all petroleum products with flash points above 79 °C and below 400 °C except fuel oils.
The instrument adopts a special heating furnace to ensure test safety. The heating power is continuously adjustable to meet the analytical requirements. The tester is fully self-contained, requiring only connection to coal gas or civil gas for flame application. A fast cooling function enhances operational efficiency in routine flash point measurements.
⚙️ Design & Construction
The AELAB SYD-3536 features a furnace-type heating system that provides uniform heating without a naked flame, ensuring explosion-preventive operation. The power is adjustable from 0 W to 600 W for precise temperature rise control. A sturdy metal housing, protected ignition assembly, and enclosed test chamber maintain consistent thermal conditions and operator safety.
🔬 Working Principle / Testing Method
The SYD-3536 operates using the Cleveland Open Cup (COC) method, heating the petroleum sample at a controlled rate while automatically applying a test flame. The instrument monitors the vapor–air mixture above the sample and identifies the flash point when a transient flame appears. The thermometer (−6 to 400 °C, 2 °C scale, ASTM 11C equivalent) provides accurate temperature reference throughout the test procedure.
💡 Key Advantages
- Explosion-preventive furnace heating for high-temperature petroleum analysis.
- Automatic test flame application for repeatable and operator-independent performance.
- Continuously adjustable power enabling precise heating rate regulation.
- Supports coal gas or civil gas ignition sources for convenient laboratory integration.
- Fast cooling function improves throughput in multi-sample workflows.
- Compact 350 mm footprint suitable for routine QC laboratories.
🔗 Connectivity & Integration
The SYD-3536 includes a digital display for temperature monitoring and integrates easily into petroleum QC labs. Data can be recorded manually following ASTM D92 and GB/T3536 procedures, ensuring full GLP traceability when used with laboratory LIMS systems.
